Find out how far out from your window they extend and youll have an easy-breezy time hanging your rod - you wont need anchors or cussing or lots of beer later. How do you do this? Youve gotta have a stud finder. Its an electronic gadget you can get at a hardware store for $10-50. You really only need an inexpensive one if youre just hanging curtain rods and the occasional wall hanging. Follow the instructions to find your studs and then mark your spots. If youre not going to mess around with a stud finder be sure to attach your rods very close to the window trim - youll more than likely find a stud there.
So today weve got... choices. And just like cereals the key to finding the right curtain rod knows a little about each one so lets make this all a little more handle-able. There are many kinds of rods but a few basic types.
Double curtain rods come in a variety of styles and designs. Double rods add a layered look to any window. Curtains of different materials can be hung together giving a richer fuller look to the window area. Many are designed so that the window can be decorated using a standard curtain and valance adding style and flare to any room. Rods are available in the conventional double rod style or in the scroll double rod style. Panels can be layered for a custom look. Double rods may also be used to hang a sheer panel behind drapes. Ranging in designs from very decorative and elegant to simple and basic it is easy to find a set to match any decor. Metal rods are available in many colors finishes and styles. Most sets include hardware and instructions for easy installation.
The whole process will only take about 15 minutes. 1. Measure 4 inches above your window then mark it. This is the location where you will place the rod brackets. Check that when the curtain rods are installed these will be placed at least one to two inches outside the window frame. Take note that there are at least two mounting holes per bracket which are needed to be marked. 2. Drill holes for the screws then insert tox in each hole to secure the screw firmly. 3. Screw all the brackets to the walls. 4. Place now the inner curtain rod to the mounting brackets followed by the second rod. Check that the rods are properly placed in the brackets. Now you can placed your favorite colorful and decorative curtains to make your window area look rich and elegant.
