Country style curtains are reminiscent of olden days of the country when people lived on a farm or had servants but still had an air of country about them. Country style curtains come in checkerboard solid colors; although somewhat muted from todays bright colors like mustard yellow. Patterns besides the very popular floral patterns roses and lilies; include the ever popular checkerboard. These come in all colors including red white and blue but a much toned down color nothing back then was bright. They did not have the technology to produce the dyes for fabrics of bright colors.
Be sure to match it to the rod size room style and color scheme. Rings and pinch clips are similar: they slide on the curtain rod and attach to the curtains. In other words the rod and rings or clips are visible sort of like some shower curtains. Brackets are used to hold decorative rods on the wall. They come in every imaginable color material style.... You wont have trouble finding a pair to fit your room. Holdbacks and tiebacks serve the same purpose: to gently scoop up your curtains and hold them at the side of the window. Holdbacks are attached directly to the wall. Tiebacks are often lengths of cording some with tassel ends that tie around the "belly" of your open curtains to hold them back.
Swing arm curtain rods do just what they say they do; they swing out of the way when you dont need to use traditional curtain rods. Swing arm curtain rods are also for places such as French doors when you need the privacy of the curtains yet still want to open the doors. They also come in handy in bathrooms on small windows and the small windows next to the front door and many other windows where you want the privacy but still want to be able to open the door or window. Installation curtain rods First and foremost decide whether you want to mount the curtain rod on the window frame or the wall. On consideration here is that often frames are made from oak or other high-quality woods and you may not want to drill into them. Plaster or sheetrock walls are very easy to patch if you change decor later. To determine the proper positioning hold up the rod to the wall using a long carpenters level over the rod to make sure you have the rod level. (Very much a two-person task!) Also mark the placement of the brackets on the wall or frame with a pencil. When doing this you may want to have the curtains mounted on the rod if there is any question about how they will look or their hanging length.
